Course Overview

Basic Life Support (BLS) is a critical skill that everyone working in healthcare should possess. This practical, hands-on training course teaches you how to respond effectively in cardiac arrest situations, potentially saving lives in your workplace and beyond.

Our course is fully aligned with the latest Resuscitation Council UK guidelines and provides comprehensive training in adult and pediatric CPR, use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and management of choking. Through practical demonstrations and individual practice on state-of-the-art manikins, you'll gain the confidence and competence to act decisively in an emergency.

This course involves physical activity including chest compressions and rescue breaths. Please inform your instructor of any health conditions that might affect your ability to participate fully. Comfortable clothing is recommended.

Course Format

This is a practical, skills-based course that combines brief theoretical instruction with extensive hands-on practice. The course runs for 3-4 hours and includes:

Theory Session (30-45 minutes)

Introduction to BLS principles, the chain of survival, current guidelines, and the physiology of cardiac arrest.

Practical Skills Training (2-2.5 hours)

Supervised practice on adult, child, and infant manikins. You'll work through scenarios, receive individual feedback, and practice until you achieve competence.

AED Training (30 minutes)

Hands-on practice with training AEDs, understanding when and how to use them safely and effectively.

Assessment (30-45 minutes)

Practical assessment of your CPR and AED skills to ensure competence. Multiple attempts allowed if needed.

Training Equipment

All equipment is provided, including:

  • Adult, child, and infant CPR manikins
  • Training AEDs with realistic simulation
  • Bag-valve-mask devices
  • Pocket masks and face shields
  • All manikins are cleaned and sanitized between uses
